WeLineation is an end-to-end platform for collecting crowdsourced segmentation data and providing close-to-ground-truth references. Inspired by the likes of LabelMe and the Amazon Mechanical Turk, it allows anyone to delineate various medical imaging scans in accordance to the uploader's requirements. Hundreds of masks are then used to coallate into one perfect segmentation.
This project is a collaboration of the Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics (PLRI) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
The Peter L. Reichertz Institute for Medical Informatics (PLRI) carries out research and education in this key and exciting field at the foundations of biomedicine and healthcare. We collaborate in interdisciplinary projects with health care centers, research institutes, enterprises and public organizations in order to shape the future of healthcare and medicine. Our activities range from the local level, as with institutions in Braunschweig and Hannover, through regional, national, and global involving the World Health Organization. PLRI is a joint institute of the Technische Universität Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig) and of Hannover Medical School (MHH). As an academic institution belonging to two leading universities, comprising an institute of technology and a medical school, located in one of Europe's most research-intensive regions, PLRI offers excellent research opportunities. The same applies to education, since we teach students in medicine (MHH), in computer science (TU Braunschweig) and related educational programs. We offer doctoral (Dr.-Ing., Dr. rer. nat., Dr. rer. biol. hum.) as well as M.D. (Dr. med.) studies.
